Nearly a quarter of nurseries across the country want to ban glitter from classrooms over environmental concerns, a survey has found. It comes after pre-school care chain, Tops Day Nurseries, announced it would introduce a ban because it was worried that glitter was damaging the eco-system. The twinkly substance, which is popular for making homemade Christmas cards and decorations, was banished from the chain last year, which has 19 nurseries across the south of England. At the time the move was praised by the Marine Conservation Society, which campaigns to protect the world’s oceans.
